Came to New Spring Garden for a wedding reception. WOW! this place is ahhh-mazing! Big open space large enough to fit 300+ people. They also have a stage. The amount of food that was served is untantamount to any reception I've been to! I was stuffed to the rim.Small parking lot across the street but tough to get in when there are events at this restaurants. Street parking is OK

I've been here for dinner twice; once for a wedding reception and then again today for a family dinner to celebrate a marriage abroad. If you like classic Cantonese cuisine, then this is a pretty solid bet. There are tons of dishes as per the usual set dinner menu for such events, and there is also the ability to have pretty much half of the restaurant for your guests if you're celebrating a special occasion.Food: 4/5 Stars - They don't skimp on filling up the plates and the food was fresh and pretty tasty! I minus one star for a little rubbery lobster, and watery red bean soup. I tried mostly everything both times, these set meals are good introductions to Canto food if you're not that familiar with it. I'm not sure of the official name, but I really liked the fish fillet with corn sauce. Shrimps with mayo and walnuts is great too, not too much mayo like some places have a tendency to do.Service: 3/5 Stars - come on guys, this isn't a race - sometimes the pace is too quick, and you'll never get a smile (though that's standard, I think).

God help this place. We came here for a change (we usually go to Eastern Seafood Palace up the street) and boy was it awful. We sat here for a good 45 minutes and there were only 4 carts that rolled by bearing the same dismal dishes. All I remember is that I ate a lot of crappy shumai here.

Went to dimsum with family here. I'm a Manhattan girl, so I never really venture into Brooklyn too much unless it's deemed necessary or if it is a family event.I was totally blown away by the quality of this restaurant. A few things that definitely impressed me:1. Variety - So many different things to choose from. So many more options than Manhattan. All the classics were still present, but I still found a lot of new dishes that are usually not offered in Manhattan.2. Freshness - Restaurant is huge and the turnover is only minutes, so food is constantly refreshed and made. Everything I ate was hot. I had a cruller wrapped in crepe and the cruller was still crispy because of freshness.3. Fast service - Waiters come and go and serve you quickly. I never had to wait for one. They zip in and zip out. Quick on their feet and so responsive to your requests that it brings 5-star restaurants to shame.I'm already devising an excuse to get my friends out to hang at this restaurant for dimsum.

This place has become a somewhat competitor to East Harbor down the street, with similar menus and space. I tend to prefer this establishment, as the food is always hot, fresh, and arrives promptly. If there's a particular dim sum dish you're looking for and don't see, you can ask any of the servers and they'll deliver a hot serving of it to your table when it comes out. I also have a pretty sensitive GI system, and the food here isn't as greasy as other places. It can get SUPER crowded and loud on the weekends for both dinner and dim sum, but that's always the case at a decent Chinese restaurant.During the week, dim sum is served starting at 7:30am, and although it's a smaller (and definitely more elderly) crowd, the food and service are still held to the same high standards. There is a free, cramped valet parking lot the size of a 2-pump gas station across the street, but you can also usually score a spot on 66th st. (street parking) behind the restaurant.

Like other 8th avenue places, this place gets packed quickly. It is relatively big and the wait time was long (at least 30 mins). Certainly not the best dim sum that I have had (there are plenty of good places around 86th st and Bay Parkway with shorter wait times). It is solid and if you like a festive and loud environment to drink your tea and eat dim sum, then this is the place for you. I didn't particularly like the chicken feet (not spicy enough for me). Service was good as the carts came around and the waiters refilled the tea pots quickly. Tables and chairs were nice (at least they have a cloth covering the table! Can't say the same for other places). I guess most people pick this place b/c of its location, but there are certainly better places in Brooklyn. I heard that this place has a parking lot, so that might be a plus, but you can always park in neighboring streets. This is my last review for 2012. Happy New Year everyone! May 2013 bring more great experiences and great eats! Cheers!

The large space with comfortable seating is a plus, but I thought the food was hit or miss. Shrimp & chive wonton dumplings, shrimp rice crepes, and tofu skin rolls were good. Avoid the fried turnip cake which was utterly disappointing. It was like a brick of flour mush. The non-wonton version of the shrimp & chive dumplings with the tapioca starch wrapper wasn't good either as the wrapper was too thick. A lot of the dim sum was at room temperature instead of hot or even warm.

The large space makes me think of being in a casino, but dim sum is being carted and served. Also, I like the pink slipcovers to cover the chairs (to cover the dirty upholstery, lol).I came here last Saturday at 1:45 pm for dim sum. Supposed, dim sum isn't being prepared and cooked anymore. However the pork shumai was piping HOT judging from the steam exuding from each morsel. And my friend popped one into his mouth, not realizing it was hot.Aside from shumai, we ordered:* chicken feet - the skin was mushy, but flavorful. I've eaten better.* chive dumplings - to me, this is one of the few items that's mainly vegetable (there's morsels of shrimp inside). BUT, the rice dough skin is thick and glutonous rather than thin and silky.* stuffed banana leaf - Oi vey, the steamed rice & Chinese sausage inside was fine but not the measly minced pork. What the hay!* Chai sew so - shaped in a glazed triangle, its a flakey exterior encases shredded pork chai sui.I would not go back, at least not this year.

this place is located right next to three guys from brooklyn, after some dim sum or dinner and u want to do some grocery shopping, its right next to this awesome restaurant, the management has changed hands many times, but it has gotten bettercame here once after bowling for dim sum and we ate so much food that it was only $15ish per person, i was like "really?" we kept ordering and it was a bargain, this dim sum place had a lot more variety than east harbor further up 65th street, not that much moreone thing i like is the frying stations which makes things fresh, cuz i like it, especially the hot pepper with shrimp stuffing, my favorite a long with the eggplant with shrimp stuff, i would say the dim sum is like 3 starsi would give the dinner place 4 stars cuz the food is amazing, some of the food i had was part of a dinner course, had buddha delight (vegetarian dish), which was lightly fried and delicious, had the mushroom with veggies was good also, had the conch, fish with veggies, too bad i was only able to stay for half of the entire course, one plus is that the dishes were not filled with grease and very good and not salty

This place was good. It was authentic. I would go back. I think. If I was in the neighborhood. Which I never am. Oh well. Before we sat down./// Sunday morning. They give you a red (raffle) ticket with a number on it. When they call your number, a waiter helps you to a table where you officially start your oh-so-great dining experience. Except the hostess with the microphone and headset graciously strapped to her face would call your number out in Chinese. Fifteen minutes go by. And then another ten. And then the family who just walked in grabs a table before us. And then a couple soon follows... There is confusion in the air, somewhere caught between the delicious smell of dim sum and awkwardness. Low and behold, they called our number - only God knows when - because the hostess took one look at me and said, "oh". They probably assumed I spoke Chinese, since I am, well, Chinese. They sit us five minutes later. We settle in and get comfortable. Then the waiter wearing a crisp white shirt and black tie starts talking to me in Chinese. It was pretty funny to say the least. Just bring us two ice waters and some forks and don't you judge me, sir.Anyways, the food was legit. That's the most important thing. But next time, just next time, I'm bringing my Chinese dictionary with me.

Amid Brooklyn Ctown's dim sum choices, New Spring Garden is mediocre in terms of speediness of the carts, quality of the food and decor (not that I care that much about decor when I'm just getting my dim sum fix, but food...fo sho!).My biggest gripe is having to slooooowly wait for the my sui mais and ha gows to come. Being assertive and hollering for my food during Chinese brunch is a norm - that, I understand and embrace. But having to get on my feet and chase down the carts is just too much work, and even then we didn't get everything we wanted from a typical dim sum meal. Blah.I'd go somewhere next door if wait time is similar.

I came here for dim sum with some friends and it was okay. The food was pretty much the same as any other Chinese place. Nothing really jumped out at me. The place is relatively clean - especially the bathroom which considering it's an asian restaurant, is rare. I had dinner here once before and it wasn't bad either. Overall a decent chinese restaurant with okay service.

I have been here a few times and it helps to have someone who speaks Chinese in your party. We came early on a Sunday morning to avoid the afternoon rush, which can have you waiting anywhere between 45 minutes to over an hour.None of the women pushing the food carts spoke or understood English which is one of the reasons for only 3 stars. If my friend wasn't with me, I don't know what we would of been eating because we would of been ordering randomly. It works on a card system where you get something off the cart and they mark your card which then becomes your bill at the end. Very efficient. The food was both good and not so good. Some items like the pork buns and other things were very good. But some things we tried, like the tripe and chicken feet were not to my taste.Would come back here again only because it's one of the better Dim Sum places around.

Bomb ass dim sum!!! I would say that its the best dim sum I've had in NY thus far which includes all of Manhattan chinatown. They were a little off on their chicken feet that day and the people sitting across from us said the same thing, but overall this place is very on point. What made this plus even better is that they offer dishes I've never seen at other dim sum places. Love this place! (though I am a bit concerned that they may not be very consistent, which means that there are off and on days)

I had been here before for lunch and its not too great. Yea the fare is standard chinese fare but I ate at other chinese places in brooklyn where the dishes are not only somewhat cheaper but tastes better than what I ate here tonight. Boy was the chicken so salty and harsh, I had better chicken at Cosco. Better off eating the dim sum.

This place would probably do a lot better if the bigger and better East Harbor wasn't just a block away. But I finally made it out here (against my will for Mother's Day at 10am).The dim sum is decent, but nothing to write home about. Nothing was necessarily bad, but it was just the same old stuff, without any differentiation from the other restaurants in the area. The chicken feet were colored funny and fell apart. The spring rolls had a lot of filler in them. Eggplant wasn't bad though. The cart ladies did come by pretty often (we sat smack dab in the middle of the floor). Probably helped that it was early. The fried rice was bland, though it did come with pine nuts (or something similar). I liked that aspect of it, but I don't think they'd warn you in case you had an allergy, so be forewarned. The egg custard bun was pretty damn good, though. Also, don't stand outside because there's a speaker and the lady with the microphone inside calling out the numbers will NOT SHUT UP. Seriously, call the number twice and move on... not 10 times.

So whenever my family wants dimsum on the weekend, this is THE PLACE to go. Why?#1 Easy street parking. Theres a parking lot but it's usually packed. Everyone knows driving to 8th Ave on a weekend is a major mistake!#2 Delicious dimsum, of course. Many dishes to choose from and the portions are huge -- definitely no skimping on the ingredients!! In addition to that, each dish is well-prepared. Nothing pisses me off more than a wimpy "ha gow" (shrimp dumpling) with the skin sticking to the paper.#3 Abundance of food carts rolling around. The space is big & the wait is long (at times) so once I sit down.. I am hungry and I want food asap! Good thing the carts are never too far away#4 There's a million TVs.. they're all over the restaurant. Literally everywhere you turn, theres at least 3 within your view. Important b/c my brother is a Knicks fan & hates missing games. So for all you other Knicks fans out there.. they put the Sunday games on!! No worries about missing any of the action :)
